Thanks to Google’s new “Nano Banana” image-editing model, the Gemini app surged to No.1 on India’s App Store. The trend went viral on social media and downloads of Gemini spiked rapidly.

Google’s Nano Banana model allows users to upload multiple photos and edit them in certain styles, including incorporating a celebrity, etc.

With the popularity of this model, the Gemini app reached the top free app spot on India’s App Store and also rose to No.1 on the US App Store.

In the free version users have a daily limit of edits, while the paid subscription unlocks higher usage limits.

The trend illustrates how rapidly AI-powered image editing is penetrating consumer apps and how social media can quickly drive adoption of such innovations.
