China’s Cyberspace Administration (CAC) has banned leading tech firms, including ByteDance and Alibaba, from ordering or testing the RTX Pro 6000D chips tailored for China—part of a broader strategy to reduce dependency amid U.S.-China AI tech rivalry.
China’s regulatory body CAC has instructed tech giants including ByteDance and Alibaba to cease ordering and testing the RTX Pro 6000D chip made by NVIDIA specifically for China.
This move follows previous restrictions on the H20 chip and is seen as part of China’s broader strategy to build more self-reliant semiconductor and AI infrastructure.
The ban may cause delays in AI development activities, especially for ongoing projects already in testing or procurement phases.
